About Lisa Johnson


    Lisa is a yoga, dance and pilates instructor with a health and wellness career spanning three decades.  She has accumulated over 1,000 training hours in Anusara Yoga, ISHTA Yoga, Thai Yoga massage, Polarity Therapy and La Ho Chi bodywork and has taught yoga for over fifteen years. Fitness and pilates have greatly influenced her approach to conditioning the body and she currently teaches Performance Pilates on the reformer and chair apparatus. In addition to teaching private and public classes, Lisa facilitates the anatomy component of  200/500 hour Yoga Teacher Training programs and offers workshops and retreats locally.

    A native of California, Lisa received a BFA in dance at University of California in 1980 before moving to the east coast for a performing and teaching career. In addition to her employment at numerous local studios, she has maintained a private practice in movement therapy, yoga and bodywork while raising a family in Potomac, MD.

    In the 1990’s both her parenting and professional experience enabled Lisa to direct the fitness component of the Best Friends Foundation. A national non-profit organization based in Washington DC, it offers unique programs for at-risk adolescents. Lisa’s responsibilities included student education in nutrition, stress-management and fitness as well as staff training, event planning and choreography.
